Telangana Teachers Object To KCR’s Remarks

K Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: Following Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's remarks against teachers, hundreds of teachers took up a protest in Tarnaka on Saturday demanding him to withdraw the 'derogatory' comments.
The protesters gathered outside St Ann's School which is one of the spot valuation centers for Secondary School Certificate exam.
They said that KCR's negligence towards teachers' community can be seen with his statements instead of fulfilling their demands - implementation of Pay Revision Commission (PRC) from July 2018, the abolishment of the contributory pension scheme among others, which have been pending since the formation of Telangana.
Speaking on this front, President of Telangana Progressive Teachers Federation, M Ravinder stated that the Chief Minister saying that teachers in Telangana are paid more than those in others states while also questioning the basis for establishing a number of teacher unions is damaging their reputation.
Stating that it is a democratic country, he said that KCR can't question them on the number of teacher unions in the state further alleging that the comments are being made only to tarnish the teachers' reputation so that the public doesn't welcome them when they protest against the government.
Asserting that the teachers are not paid better than those from AP, the teachers claimed that the Ministers are the ones who actually draw higher salaries when compared to ministers from other states in the country but the Chief Minister is maintaining silence on the issue.
Demanding KCR to withdraw his comments against the teachers' community, they further sought for the pending problems to be resolved.
