Inter Results Goof Up: Parents, Students Protest Outside Telangana Board
Hyderabad: Angry parents and students protested outside the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education office in Nampally here on Saturday demanding a probe after the intermediate result goof-up.
Parents have sought an explanation from the board and had also urged the government to intervene into the matter.They also have demanded the state education minister to look into the issue.
The inter-board results were released on Thursday which saw bewildering issues. Scores of students were marked absent despite them appearing for the exam.
Apart from the irregularities in paper correction, the Board had marked many students as students as absent, non-addition of practical marks of at least 500 students were found and in many cases students who were declared as toppers in the state had failed in the second year.
According a report Sumith Reddy, a 2nd year student secured 60 out of 60 in physics in his first year, failed in physics and maths, with 16 and 12 marks respectively. He had also cleared the JEE Mains with a good score and was hoping to join a good engineering college.
G Navya, of Chintaguda village in Mancherial district, got zero marks in Telugu in the second-year Intermediate exam, after securing 98 marks in the subject in her first year.In another case an auto driver's daughter who hot 91 % in the 1st year failed in Chemistry.
Within a day of the results announced more than 10 cases of students committing suicide were reported across the state. Andhra Rajya Sabha MP CM Ramesh's nephew was among the 10 students who committed suicide. Meanwhile TSBIE secretary A Ashok, has stated that there were no lapses or goof-ups by the Board and termed any such allegations as false and baseless rumours.
