Hyderabad To Face Acute Water Shortage In Summer Months - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The water board would compensate 50 million gallons a day (MGD) from Singur/ Manjeera with water from the Godavari river, Osman Sagar and Himayathsagar reservoirs, said Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board managing director M Dana Kishore on Tuesday.

However, as the board was falling short of 5 million gallons of water a day, over 10,000 consumers residing in Rajendranagar, Serilingampally and Kukatpally areas would suffer a problem.

Kishor had said that 30 million gallons per day (MGD) will be drawn from the Godavari and would be supplied through the Ring Main 1 and 15 MGD from Osman Sagar and Himayath Sagar.

Kishore also gave an assurance stating that 24/7 water tankers will be sent to these areas. He also added that over 20 water filling stations to supply water through 100 private tankers were deployed.

He added that freewater to the slums had been extended for six months. He also mentioned that the private tankers registered with the boards will sell the water at a rate fixed by the HMWS&SB and they could be tracked by GPS.

The pipeline work pertaining to Ring Main construction has had over 46KMs of its stretch done, and the board had written to the government for completion of the remaining 8 kms.

He added that 20 special officers would be appointed to inspect water scarcity at the ground level and supply water accordingly. Over 1.5 crore is being spent to set up mobile water treatment plants for the water supplied from the twin reservoirs.
