Many pilgrims from the city have pleaded with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to request the Saudi Arabia government to drop the extra charges levied on Indians alone. People from Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt are already exempted from the fee. India is the 4th or 5th largest pilgrim sending nation for Umrah every year.
Pilgrims from Hyderabad have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use his good offices to prevail upon the Saudi Arabian government to abolish the additional fee for Indians. It is also learned that Umarh costs less when compared with Haj and this is the reason behind many Indian Muslims going it every year.
