Numaish Reopens Two Days After Fire
Hyderabad: Following the fire incident which took place at the Nampally exhibition on Thursday, the place had been shut down for two days. The exhibition resumed on Saturday. However, the public demand was less compared to the usual public seen on weekends.
Speaking in this regard, the Exhibition Society’s honorary secretary GV Rangareddy told the media that all the necessary precautionary measures were in place after consultation with the police, fire services, GHMC and roads and buildings department officials.
Four fire tenders have been deployed inside the exhibition ground for the safety of shoppers and visitors.
In a precautionary measure, the shoppers have been asked to stock fire extinguishing tools in their stalls and avoid the use of inflammable material and cooking inside the shops. Due to the losses incurred, the exhibitors are demanding a 15-day extension for the exhibition, however, a decision in this regard will be made after necessary permits from various departments are obtained.
The shoppers whose shops were gutted in the fire were returned the rent amount by the Society and the compensation will be finalized once the assessment of losses is obtained by the revenue officials.
Meanwhile, the Kashmiri and Gujarati exhibitors refused to open their shops and demanded immediate release of compensation. However, they resumed the exhibits once the organizers assured all the help required for them to open their shops.
