Mission Bhagiratha Pipeline Burst Won’t Hit Drinking Water Supply: HMWSSB

Hyderabad:  TRS government's flagship program Mission Bhagiratha to provide safe drinking to the state of Telangana suffered a major setback with the bursting of the main pipeline at Medipur village of Thadoor mandal, Mahbubnagar district on Sunday.

A loss of many gallons of water was seen after the leak. However, authorities from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) said, this is not going to impact the water supply in the city.

HMWS&SB- Transmission chief general manager D Sudershan clarified that there is going to be no interruption of water supply services in the city. The pipe leakage incident in Medipur, is not going to affect the continuous supply, he added.

He said, as for the city water is being drawn from the Krishna river for the point near Puttamgandi Village in Nalgonda district. Mission Bhagiratha aims at providing potable water to villages and urban areas in Telangana. In villages, it is going to be 100 liters and urban areas it is 150 liters. The project is being implemented with a fund of Rs 35,000 crores. After completion, the project will form a grid of 1.26 lakh km pipeline network.
