Amrutha Would Have Killed Herself If We Didn’t Get Them Married: Pranay’s Father

The ghastly killing of Pranay, a Dalit youth from Miryalguda in the presence of his pregnant wife Amrutha, has shaken the entire country.

Balaswamy, Pranay's father said that they tried persuading Amrutha not to get married to Pranay, after being threatened by her father, Maruthi Rao.

The girl however, was adamant, Pranay's father said and insisted that she could not live without the boy. When she threatened to take her own life, Pranay's parents are learnt to have relented.

Perumalla Balaswamy is an LIC employee, who says that Amrutha is their daughter now and will be under their care. Balaswamy said that she insists on staying with her in-laws and refuses to return to her parents. Amrutha, had in fact, stated that she did not wish to see her parents ever again, and wanted to spend the rest of her life with her in-laws. Amrutha tied a rakhi to Ajay, Pranay's brother and a student of medicine in Ukraine, when he was here recently.

Amrutha and Pranay got married at the Arya Samaj in Hyderabad on January 30 earlier this year. Smarting under an imagined feeling of loss of "honour", the girl's father, Maruthi Rao, handed out a 'supari' to a terror suspect, Mohammed Abdul Bari, based in Hyderabad, to get the killing executed. Bari, in turn, passed on the contract to a Bihar-based killer, Sharma, through another accused in the Haren Pandya murder case, Asghar Ali.
