Hyderabad Woman Pays Record Income Tax of 10 crores
Hyderabad: More often than not, India's highest tax payers have always been Bollywood stars and cricketers. But, a city-based management professional working with an IT company has raised eyebrows after paying record tax for the financial year 2017-18.
As per sources in the Income Tax department, the top professional is estimated to have drawn a salary of around Rs 30 crore for the year 2017-18. After a taxation of 30 per cent on her annual income, about Rs 10 crore of Income tax was levied.
"Under salaried employees category, a management professional working in the IT sector paid Rs 10 crore towards the Income tax for the year 2017-18, after a 30 per cent tax on her income," SP Choudhury, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh said.
Only expert professionals brought in for special projects in the IT sector draw this kind of pay packet, HR strategists say.
