Telangana: Tehsildar gets one year's RI for taking bribe
A local court has convicted a former tehsildar for taking bribe.
Additional special judge for anti-corruption cases in Hyderabad on Tuesday sentenced R Govardhanachary, posted in Kasipet mandal in Adilabad district of Telangana at the time of the offence, to a rigorous imprisonment of one year under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The court also imposed fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
He had been trapped by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 to issue proceedings for restoration of possession of a land.
Engineer arrested for taking bribe
The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested an assistant engineer in Nalgonda district of Telangana for taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The official, working with Irrigation and Command Area Development Department of Miryalaguda section in Nalgonda, was caught red-handed by the ACB sleuths yesterday while taking the money, a release said.
