Telangana Orders Bathukamma Sarees Worth Crores From Sircilla Weavers
Sircilla: TRS working president KTR on Wednesday said that one crore Bathukamma sarees would be distributed to women in Telangana state by September 15.
After holding a meeting with the officials about the issues of handloom and textile workers at his camp office in Sircilla, KTR said that in a view to provide employment to the weavers in Sircilla, Rs 900 crore worth orders for Bathukamma sarees have been given to the weavers of Sircilla from the past three years.
In addition to the eight months guaranteed employment, weavers, who get Rs 7000 to 8,000 per month, can earn Rs 16,000 to 20,000 per month with an order of Bathukamma Sarees. Some of them earn as much as Rs 25,000 per month, added KTR.
Further he said that over the past four years, various government departments have ordered the weavers to produce 40.60 crore metres of cloth worth Rs 1,600 crore for Bathukamma sarees, uniforms, KCR kits, Christmas and Ramadan gift packs, he added.
