Telangana Farmers Will Get Minimum Support Price For Crops: KCR
Hyderabad: Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao said that he would try his best to give Maximum Support Price (MSP) to all the major crops. He also made a promise to the red jowar farmers to give them justice as they were seeking remunerative prices for their produce.
He also made a mention of how various schemes are already in place to improve the conditions of the farmers. He also said that he will soon come up with a policy to ensure remunerative price for all major crops.
The Telangana CM was addressing a public meeting in Nizamabad recently. While addressing the gathering he said that farmers would only make progress when the right kind of inputs and support are given to them along with a remunerative price. He also pointed out Dispute free passbooks, improved water supply besides giving farmers an investment amount of Rs 5000 per acre under the Rythu Bandhu scheme all came into place just five years into TRS being in power.
“I need some time to streamline the existing system and ensure remunerative price to farmers. We are already preparing the draft policy for establishing crop colonies, cultivation of suitable crops and setting up food processing units, in consultation with agricultural scientists and economists. Once prepared, we will consult all stakeholders through various media and take their views before implementing our policy,” he explained.
Speaking more elaborately about his plans on the agricultural front, he pointed out that the urban areas are seeing a whole range of adulterated food products being sold, keeping the health of the people consuming them in question.
“Take for instance, turmeric produced in Nizamabad district. Though it is produced in huge quantity, farmers do not get a remunerative price and consumers get adulterated product. We will soon establish food processing units to be operated by our women Self Help Groups and sell unadulterated turmeric and other processed crops across the country under Telangana’s brand name,” he added.
He made mention of the near-completion of the Kamaleshwaram project, saying that once it is in order and commences operations during the next rainy season, projects such as Sri Ram Sagar Project will never go dry. He remembered how many legislators along with Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy and MP K Kavitha had made efforts to sanction the Rs 1000 Crore for the SRSP rejuvenation.
He did say that there is massive scope for improvement in the agriculture, and promised that the state government is doing all it can to see that the farmers reap maximum benefits from the government. He asked them not to give an ear to what the opposition has to offer as it will not be of use to the sector in the long run, and when they actually need it. He promised the farmers that he will take special steps to resolve any issues faced by the farmers, and initiate any further action for it, after the elections are done.
On this occasion, The Telangana CM has promised to look into the demand for new Mandal creations such as Aluru, Donkeshwar, Salur and Oddelingapur in Nizamabad Parliamentary constituency. He promised a pension of Rs 2,000 to over 4.5 beedi workers. This was something not being looked into at the states run by the BJP or the Congress. Across the country, there are over 52.37 lakh beedi workers engaged in the works across the country
