Yellareddy Congress MLA Surender - Sakshi Post

Nizamabad: With several Congress leaders from other districts in Telangana expected to shift to the ruling TRS party, MLA J Surender of Yellareddy Assembly constituency in undivided Nizamabad district is now in a tough spot.

However, sources revealed on Saturday that the MLA has decided to continue in Congress. Previously, speculation was rife in the political circles that the Yellareddy MLA might join the TRS party during Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to Nizamabad on March 19.

When quizzed on the same, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha had neither denied nor agreed on Surender's entry into TRS.

Having begun his political career with TRS since the party being founded in 2001, Surender reportedly is a huge follower of party Chief KCR and even helped the party initially with different sources.

During the 2004 Assembly elections, the TRS was unable to offer an MLA ticket to Surender following which he contested as a rebel candidate to Secunderabad Cantonment Board employee turned politician E Ravinder Reddy and later joined the Telugu Desam.

Once he joined the Congress, Surender contested as MLA candidate from Yellareddy in 2014 and 2018 elections. He was elected as Yellareddy MLA on Congress ticket after garnering immense support from the people of Yellareddy Assembly constituency.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Surender asserted that he won't be joining the TRS as he is comfortable in the Congress and will continue working according to the aspirations of people of Yellareddy and the party's interests.
