KCR Offers MLC Seat To MIM, Keeps Congress Away

K Chandrasekhar Rao - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao it appears, by offering a fifth MLC seat to the AIMIM, has decided to keep the Congress out of the state legislative Council. The TRS has nominated four candidates for MLC seats and needs eight MLAs in all to keep the Congress out of the legislative Council in the state. In a master stroke, KCR offered the fifth seat in the Council to the ally of the ruling party, AIMIM. The four candidates announced by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday are, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Subash Reddy, Mallesham and Satyavati Rathore.

As things stand, the TRS could easily win four of the MLAs seats in the polls scheduled for March 12. The Congress could pull off a victory for the fifth with the support of the TDP. A loss for the Congress would mean a total wipeout from the state legislative Council.

The MLC elections came into play following the retirement of Mahmood Ali, Waqf Board Chairman Md. Saleem, T. Santosh Kumar all from the ruling TRS, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and P. Sudhakar Reddy of the Congress. The Election Commission has already notified the schedule for Council polls.
