Telangana Congress Bats For Ballot Papers Over EVMs

Hyderabad: Congress leaders from Telangana took to protest at Indira park against the Central Election Commission over the failure in handling the issue of missing voters in the electoral rolls.

Talking to media at the event Congress leader DK Aruna said, now it is clarified that the TRS and election commission have been in a secret alliance. She claimed that KCR dissolved the government and went for elections, with the support of election commission.

DK Aruna remarked that Chief Electoral Officer Rajath Kumar did not heed to the complaints made by the opposition parties, but later after the polling is done the CEO apologized. There is a difference between the number of votes polled and the number of votes counted, she added.

The senior Congress leader reminded the media that even in developed countries ballot paper is being used and there are questions being raised about EVMs across India. She even wondered, how KCR could win the same number of seats as quoted by him the campaign, before elections, calling it a conspiracy. DK Aruna demanded that the upcoming elections to Lok Sabha should be held using ballot paper.

TJS chief Kodandaram alleged that TRS party used government servants for party work. He alleged that some of the government employees even distributed money for the TRS.

Kodandaram recollected that Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy went to Court over the missing voters issue, and the election commission said before the court that they will rectify the mistakes. How could 22,00,000 votes go missing, he questioned.

VVPATS was set up as per Supreme Court orders it is learnt, and they should have been counted in the booths where the candidates expressed any suspicion, remarked Kodandaram.

Leaders present at the protest included TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, former PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, CLP Bhatti Vikramarka, MP Nandi Yellaiah, former ministers Marri Shashidhar Reddy, DK Aruna, Hyderabad Congress party president Anjan Kumar Yadav, Telangana Jana Samithi president Kodandaram, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, former MP Aziz Pasha, and others.
