Mumtaz Ahmed Khan Pro-tem Speaker, Owaisi Grateful To KCR

Mumtaz Ahmed Khan Telangana Pro-tem Speaker - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Close to a month after the Telangana Assembly election results are out, the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) government took the first stride towards convening the Legislative Assembly and making the newly elected MLAs take the oath. The cabinet is also yet to be expanded. Barring Mahmood Ali's appointment as the Home Minister, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has not inducted any MLA into the cabinet after forming the government on 12 December, 2018.

In a latest move, KCR appointed senior leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and six term MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan as the Pro-tem Speaker of the Assembly. Earlier in the week, TRS sources informed that the cabinet expansion was likely to occur post-Sankranti. Incidentally, the Panchayati Raj elections are scheduled to be held in three stages on 21, 25 and 30 January.

Elated over the appointment of Mumtaz Khan was Hyderabad MP and MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi. He expressed gratitude to KCR in a tweet.

"MUMTAZ Ahmad Khan 6 term MLA of CHARMINAR from MIM will be made Pro-tem Speaker of Telangana Assembly ,I am thankful to @TelanganaCMO KCR saheb," read his tweet.
