EC Seizes Rs 135 Crores in Telangana, Books 250 Cases, Polling Starts 7 AM
Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar announced that the EC had till now seized Rs 135 crores and has filed 250 cases pertaining to irregularities in poll-bound Telangana State. In a media conference on the preparedness of the polling booths across the State for tomorrow's Assembly election, the Officer said as many as 20 lakh new voters would be exercising their voting rights for the first time tomorrow.
"We have ensured that all the arrangements have been done. Those who do not have Voter IDs can also cast their vote by showing any of the 12 government recognised ID proofs. All the voter slips have been distributed 100%," he said.
In 13 naxal-affected constituencies--Mulug, Bhupalpally, Chennur, Bellampalli, Mancherial, Sirpur, Asifabad, Manthani, Pinapaka, Illandu, Kothagudem, Ashwaraopeta and Bhadrachalam, polling will end at 4 pm, an hour before the regular timing. Polling starts at 7 am across the State.
Any of the ID proofs--Passport, Driver's license, State and Central government recognition cards, Banks and post office-issued passbooks, PAN card, Aadhar card, NREGS Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card, Pension Certificate, Voter slip, MP, MLA, MLC official ID cards and NPR smart cards would suffice if the voters do not have voter slips.
