Asaduddin Owaisi Asks Amit Shah To Read Constitution On Muslim Reservation - Sakshi Post

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah for his comments on the Telangana government's proposal to provide 12% reservation to backward classes. Quoting the Sudhir Commission that reveiwed the proposal to provide reservations for Muslims, the Hyderabad MP, in a tweet, said that the reservation proposal in Telangana was visualized on the grounds of backwardness.

Hitting out at Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) for planning to provide reservation based on religion, Amit Shah in his election rallies in Nirmal and Parkal in the State pledged to not allow the reservation proposal for implementation. "How will you provide the 12% reservation within the Supreme Court's direction to ceil the total reservations to 50%? Whom will you carve out from the existing reservations--Dalits, tribals or OBCs?" he demanded to know from KCR.

Meanwhile, Owaisi reacted asking the BJP President to refer to the Constitution on the provision for reservations to backward castes of any faith. "Once in your life, please read the Constitution. There's no prohibition on reservations to backward castes of any faith. Reservation in Telangana is on grounds of backwardness documented by Sudhir Comm. Real religion quota: exclusion of Dalit Muslims & Christians from SC/ST list," read Owaisi's tweet.
