Congress Flag May Fly High In Mahabubabad, Dornakal

Mahabubabad is a ST reserved constituency in Mahabubabad district. It was represented by Shanker Naik of Telangana Rasthra Samithi(TRS) in the previous election of 2014 in which he won on the wave of Telangana movement over sitting MLA Redya Nayak’s daughter Malothu Kavitha with a majority of 9,315 votes whereas Congress Candidate Malothu Kavitha got 69,055 votes from an electorate of 2,11,688.

Again, ahead of the December 7 Polls in the State TRS fielded Shanker Naik while the Congress fielded Porika Balaram Naik, a former Union minister.

As things stand, analysts see a close fight between the ruling party and Congress in the constituency.

Dornakal is a ST reserved constituency in the Telangana legislative assembly. It is located in Mahabubabad District and it is known as a stronghold of the Congress. In 2014, Redya Naik of the Congress won with a majority of 23,531 votes over TRS candidate Satyavathi

Rathod,who got 60,639 votes from the electorate of 1,91,641. After winning elections, he changed to the TRS party. This time around, the ruling TRS party fielded Redya Naik as their candidate, while the Congress party fielded J.Ramachandra Naik.

As of now, 14 elections were held in this constituency in which the Congress won 13 times. Observers give the Congress a winning this time around as well.
