TRS Too Tall For Opposition Parties In Wardhannapet

TRS candidate Aroori Ramesh - Sakshi Post

The Wardhannapet assembly constituency (SC) in Warangal rural district is one such constituency which was swept away in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) wave during the 2014 elections. With a thumping majority of 86,349 votes, TRS candidate Aroori Ramesh defeated Congress candidate Kondeti Sridhar in the 2014 elections.

The constituency is spread across the suburbs of Warangal, which was a hotbed of the Telangana agitation. Ever since the State was formed, the district has been a stronghold of the TRS party, with victories in several bye-elections.

This time around, the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), a partner in the Congress-led people's front, announced its candidate for the SC-reserved constituency, for which the TDP was already allotted the ticket. Dr P Devaiah would test his luck against the TRS candidate in the December 7 polls.
