Seething Discontent In Telangana Congress Over Ticket Distribution
Hyderabad: Congress party cadre is fuming with dissent. Senior leaders are said to have waited for the second list to be released, to find their name missing even in the second list as well. This has led to an uproar in the rank and file of the party. Leaders claim that those who had worked for the party’s growth are now being denied seats. Few of them have even started protesting against the high command.
Dasoju Sravan had been selected for the Khairatabad constituency and this has led to protests by the local cadre. Since Danam Nagendar left Congress Rohin Reddy has been handling the affairs of the constituency, and now giving the seat away to Sravan has irked party workers. Dasoju Sravan had requested people from Musheerabad to vote for him, and end up with the Khairatabad ticket, much to the chagrin of Rohin Reddy supporters. As Mahakutami is in place, TDP cadre also are protesting for Khairatabad to be given to TDP, in front of NTR Bhavan and one of them climbed up an electric pole as a part of the protest.
Congress Senior leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah’s name was not seen even in the second list and this led to seething discontent among his supporters in Janagam. They also said the BC leader has been insulted by the high command. In all, 14 counselors from Congress resigned in protest, as the firestorm over seat-sharing coupled with distribution of tickets rages on.
Ranga Reddy DCC president Kamya Mallesh referring to the Congress state leadership said that there have been discrepancies in alloting MLA tickets in the party. By selling the tickets to others, Congress has cheated both the Golla and Kuruma communities. If any sort of injustice is done to me then the communities are going to turn against Congress, he said, in a veiled threat.
