EC Pulls Up Telangana Leaders Over Unparliamentary Language in Election Campaigns
HYDERABAD: The Election Commission issued notices to Telangana caretaker minister T Harish Rao from TRS, TPCC working president Revanth Reddy, Vanteru Pratap Reddy and Revuri Prakash Reddy from TDP for use of unparliamentary language during their electoral campaigns.
Talking on the issue, Telangana CEO Rajat Kumar said: “We have issued notices to these four leaders based on complaints we have received and they have been asked to reply within 48 hours failing which, necessary action would be taken against them as per the law."
Rajat Kumar said that any use of unparliamentary language by politicians against their opponents will be frowned upon and viewed with utmost seriousness. Tough measures will be put in place for those breaking the rules, he added. Violators shall be booked under various sections of IPC and CrPC, he added. All the candidates should refrain themselves from making any personal comments, slandering, and the use of forbidden language, he added.
