Telangana Elections 2018: Congress To Announce Final List Of Candidates On Friday

New Delhi: With parties in Mahakutami or Grand Alliance, Congress, TDP, CPI and TJS , yet to come out with a clear seat-sharing agreement, the Congress is now on an appeasement agenda. The Congress high command at Delhi has called senior Telangana Congress leaders, D K Aruna, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Damodara Raja Narasimha and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy urgently today to discuss the future course of action about the seat sharing with the Grand Alliance parties.

The screening committee in the Congress also summoned aspirants of the remaining 15 seats of Suryapet, Mulugu, Ibrahimptnam, Dharmapuri, Station Ghanpur, Tunguthurthi, Rajendranagar, Dubbaka, Medak, Peddapalli, Korutla, Warangal East, Kothagudem, Nizamabad Urban, Nizamabad Rural, Medchal, Patancheruvu and Jukkal constituencies, to come to Delhi for talks in the Congress War Room.

The high command is treading cautiously in this respect because it feels some of them could turn into rebels and play spoiler in the assembly elections.It appears that the Congress has bowed to the pressure from the CPI and TJS parties and the Screening Committee is allotting an hour's time to the interested candidate of the 15 constituencies and finalise the list.

Out of the 119 seats in Telangana, the Congress is prepared to give 29 seats to its allies of which the TDP has already been allotted 14 seats. The Congress is ready to contest the remaining 90 seats. Sources say that there will be a crucial meeting of the Congress Election Committee in New Delhi for further talks and key decisions regarding the remaining 15 seats with the CPI and TJS. The final list of candidates of the Mahakutami or Grand Alliance is to be revealed once the meeting is over. In all likelihood, this could happen tomorrow.
