Dissenting Voices In Congress Grand Alliance Ahead Of Candidate Announcement In Telangana

Hyderabad: Even as leaders of the Congress-led grand alliance prepares for the announcement of its candidates for the December 7 Assembly elections, dissent among the leaders has intensified. On Sunday, voices of dissent were heard at Gandhi Bhavan here. Depressed over the news of possible allotment of Serilingampally constituency to the TDP, the local Congress leaders demanded that the seat be given to party candidate, former MLA Bhikshapathi Yadav.

Raising anti-TDP slogans at the party office here today, under the leadership of the Congress aspirant, his supporters staged a protest. There was commotion when a Congress worker attempted suicide by trying to set himself on fire, the situation came under control after the other workers tried to persuade him.

On the other side, Bhikshapathi Yadav decided to show his disappointment after announcing himself as the MLA contestant from Serilingampally in recent times. Demanding that the seat be allocated to any Congress candidate, he said that the party workers would strive for the party's win. Meanwhile, another supporter of the Congress leader cut his wrist with a knife in protest against giving the Serilingampally seat to the TDP.
