Telangana Elections: Congress To Declare Candidates After Diwali
New Delhi: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is expected to delay the announcement of its candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. Although the announcement was initially expected to be made either on Thursday or Friday, reports suggest that further delay in making the much-awaited announcement is not imminent.
AICC In-charge for Telangana State affairs RC Khuntia, in a statement informed that the Congress contestants would be announced on November 8 or November 9. Speaking to media here after the meeting, Khuntia said that the Congress decided to contest in 95 constituencies in the context of the grand alliance with the TDP, TJS and CPI. While the alliance partners would field their candidates in the remaining seats, we have in principle decided on 57 of our share of 95 constituencies, he added.
TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, who also attended the meeting, said that the Congress-led alliance decided on fielding 95 Congress contestants and 14 TDP contestants, while the remaining 10 seats would be shared by the TJS and the CPI.
