Asaduddin Owaisi Invites Rahul Gandhi To Contest From Charminar
Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Party President Asaduddin Owaisi invited Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah to contest from Hyderabad in the upcoming elections. On the eve of Rahul's visit to the State today, Asaduddin Owaisi took to Twitter and threw a challenge to the two national leaders to fight him in the elections. He repeated the same when asked by reporters of TV channels.
Owaisi added in his chat to representatives of the electronic media that he welcomed both a janeyu dhari Hindu (referring to Rahul Gandhi) and a nationalist Hindu in a reference to Amit Shah. He said that the people of Hyderabad who best represented its composite culture or Ganga-Jumni tehzeeb, would teach a befitting lesson to both Rahul Gandhi and the BJP president.
The Congress Chief is expected to attend the Rajiv Sadbhavana Day celebrations at Charminar here in the evening.
"@RahulGandhi Welcome to Charminar, a symbol of my city's Musi tehzeeb. Since you & @amitshah are so fixated on Charminar,I invite you two to contest from here & let the people show you who best represents our composite culture.
PS: janeu or no janeu, all are welcome in Hyderabad," Owaisi's tweet read.
Last month, the MIM Chief challenged Amit Shah to contest from Hyderabad. The BJP would not be able to retain its five seats in the State, he remarked at the time. He criticized the BJP's strategy to tackle the rising fuel prices and employment for youth in the country.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is yet to announce its plans for the upcoming election with respect to the seven Assembly constituencies presently being represented by the MIM. In the 105 contestants announced by TRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on September 6 after dissolving the State Assembly, the candidates for these seven constituencies were not announced in addition to seven other constituencies like Warangal East.
The MIM has already announced that it would support the TRS in the upcoming election. Watch this space for more updates on Telangana election 2018.
