KCR Promises Farm Loan Waivers In TRS Partial Manifesto For Assembly Polls

Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party will waive all the loans below Rs 1 lakh and double the pensions given to the beneficiaries if elected to power in the upcoming elections, Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said. Speaking to media at Telangana Bhavan here today, KCR announced the TRS's partial manifesto after convening a meeting with the party manifesto committee.

Comparing the State's economic status after bifurcation with the current scenario, he said that several opposition parties were treating elections as a political game. The manifesto committee, after considering the 3,500 representations from various social groups and associations, has finalised a preliminary manifesto, he mentioned.

KCR said that the State's Irrigational needs were given utmost attention after bifurcation. With an intention to serve the needs of one crore acres of agricultural land in the State, the TRS took up construction of major irrigation projects along with the prestigious Mission Kakatiya scheme, he added.

"By 2020, we would be able to serve 1 crore acres. We have solved the electricity issues and also assisted farmers with schemes like Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bheema, Rythu Bandhu etc. The farmers are receiving the fertilisers in time during every crop season," he stated.

The TRS chief went on to say that world over, experts were praising the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Under Rythu Bheema, even a small-scale farmer would be given Rs 5 lakh insurance cover, he said. Until the State's farmers get prosperous, the TRS would always stand by them, he added.

Of the 45 lakh farmers who had taken loans in the State, 42 lakh farmers had drawn Rs 1 lakh or lesser. After coming back to power, the TRS will waive these loans at one go, he promised.
