Bathukamma In New Zealand Thrills KTR

TRS Leader and caretaker IT Minister of Telangana, K T Rama Rao took to Social Media to thank the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern for participating in the Bathukamma Celebrations in Auckland.

She participated in the ‘Maha Bathukamma’ festival organised by the Telangana Association of New Zealand (TANZ) at Mt Eden War Memorial Hall in Auckland probably making her the first Prime Minister in the world to participate in the Bathukamma ritual.

“Kudos to Prime Minister of New Zealand @jacindaardern on joining Bathukamma celebrations of Telangana Association of New Zealand. She’s the first PM in the world to have participated in #Bathukamma” , he wrote.


Ardern danced to the tunes of Bathukamma songs and appreciated the fact that ‘Maha Bathukamma’ festival is celebrated to worship ‘Mother Goddess,’ and that women are the principal participants. I am delighted to see so many women of Telangana here. I wish all the people of this illustrious State on the occasion," she said. More than 2,000 people from Telangana participated in the celebrations.
