TRS Faces Heat From Rebel Leaders Over Candidates List
Hyderabad: With the announcement of the list of 105 contestants for the Telangana Assembly elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is facing severe backlash from its leaders who have been denied party tickets. In various constituencies, several TRS leaders who were hoping to get a chance to contest with a party ticket, are letting their disappointment known by holding press conferences. A handful of TRS rebel leaders are chalking out action plans to contest as independent candidates with the help of their supporters.
Senior leader Konda Surekha who had won on a TRS ticket from Warangal East, has already criticized the TRS top leadership over the denial of ticket to her. She is expected to announce a decision on her future in the TRS party. Miryalaguda TRS Incharge Amarender Reddy has also openly opposed the party's decision to give Bhaskar Rao, a Congress MLA who had joined the TRS, a ticket instead of him.
Nalgonda ZP Chairman Balu Nayak, who had joined the TRS after getting elected as the Chairman as a Congress candidate, is learnt to have begun consultations with the Congress party, after the TRS had not given him the party ticket. Balu Nayak was elected to the Assembly in 2009 as a Congress candidate.
In Thungathurthi constituency, Telangana State Warehousing Corporation Chairman Mandula Samuel and Telangana Jagruthi leader Rajiv Sagar are opposing the allotment of party ticket to sitting MLA Gadari Kishore. Also, the TRS leaders in Nagarjuna Sagar constituency are demanding that a local candidate be given a ticket instead of Nomula Narsimhayya.
