Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLC Karne Prabhakar hit out at Congress leaders for attempting to stall Kaleshwaram project work. In a bid to stop the project work, the Telangana Congress leaders are carrying out covert operations for leaders from Andhra Pradesh, he said.

Speaking to media here today, the TRS leader said that the Congress party was desperate to work along with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the state. "The Congress party, which is playing the part of a sister organization of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (T-JAC), has made baseless allegations against the Kaleshwaram project works," he remarked.

The opposition parties do not want Telangana to be self-sufficient in irrigation and drinking water, the MLC said. The aim of the Congress leaders is to divert Godavari river waters to Dhavaleshwaram barriage, and Krishna river waters to Krishna barriage, he added.

"Didn't the Congress government ever re-design the irrigation project work? Do the Congress leaders ever stand by their words? Why didn't the Congress government complete construction of the Tummidihatti project?" asked Prabhakar.

The TRS MLC said that the Telangana government was moving foward with an aim to supply irrigation water to one crore acres of land. "Why is Telangana Congress Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy bothered about Kaleshwaram turning into a tourist place?" he asked.
