Telangana Minister’s Car Mows Down Teenager

Hyderabad: A teenager, Satwik, was killed when a Telangana minister's car mowed him down near Nirmal town in Nizamabad district here on Saturday, police said.

Endowments Minister A Indirakaran Reddy was not in the vehicle when the incident occurred. The driver was going to a temple to pick up the Minister's family when the car knocked down the teenaged student riding a motorcycle. According to a close aide of the Minister, neither Reddy nor any of his family members was travelling in the car at the time of the mishap.

The car, being driven at high speed, hit the bike from rear side and dragged the boy to a few feet before coming to halt. A profusely bleeding Satwik, a student of Class 9, was shifted to a hospital in Nizamabad, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following a protest by the victim's relatives demanding justice, police booked a case against the driver and arrested him.

On Sunday, Minister Indirakaran Reddy met the family of Satwik and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs to the family.
