Telangana Govt Sets Up SIT to Probe into Cases Against Gangster Nayeem
Hyderabad: Telangana Government on Wednesday formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate all the cases filed against slain Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem. Headed by IG Nagi Reddy, the SIT will club all cases related to gangster Nayeem and his associates reported in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and other places.
The State government is planning to take possession of all the assets of Nayeem. A clear picture on Nayeem’s assets would emerge after SIT’s investigation. Based on the report on assets by SIT, the State government will issue a GO and then seek court’s permission to acquire assets of Nayeem.

The SIT will investigate into several aspects including personal diary, hundreds of sale deeds, GPAs (General Power of Attorney) and other land documents that were seized from the house of Nayeem, his benamis and relatives.
Considering the several challenges coming in the way of investigation by Law and Order police, the State government has taken a decision to set up a SIT to speed up the probe.
Rs2,500-cr worth assets
On the other side of the coin, Cyberabad-West police has seized scores of documents during searches at the house of Nayeem and his associates. Police officials are surprised over the mind-boggling assets worth thousands of crore rupees. Nayeem minted money by indulging in illegal land settlements of land disputes in several districts of the State. According to the preliminary estimates, the value of assets so far identified by the police was estimated to be over Rs2,500 crore.
The police officials have seized kilos of gold jewellery and valuable diamonds. Nayeem possessed numerous houses, plots and hundreds of acres of land as the seized documents reveal.
Search operation continues
Police officials on Wednesday continued their search in houses of Nayeem and his close associates. Police searched houses located in Alkapuri, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram. A house of Nayeem’s close associate Khayyum was identified by the police in Dwarakamayi nagar in Vanasthalipuram. A senior official said that key documents and weapons found in the house.
Riyaz arrested
Police also arrested shooter Riyaz, a main associated of Nayeem. He was taken to Nalgonda at Tuesday midnight for further investigation. Riyaz was hiding in an apartment in the city. Police seized few weapons including revolvers and guns.
Rs 100-cr land in Guntur
Telangana police started a secret investigation into Nayeem’s assets in AP as well. It’s learnt that Nayeem has land worth Rs100 crore in Chinakakani near Mangalagiri in Guntur district. However, AP police clarified that Nayeem’s case comes under Telangana’s jurisdiction and they have no role to play. AP police also said that they’re busy with arrangements for Krishna Pushkaralu.
It’s further rumored that the 15 acres of land in survey numbers as claimed in the purchase documents by gangster Nayeem have been registered on a Hyderabad-based real estate company and another builder. Police officials, intelligence and special branch have commenced a secret investigation into this.
