Telangana Govt Scraps EAMCET-2; EAMCET-3 by August end; results in Sept
Hyderabad: On expected lines, the Telangana government is believed to have cancelled EAMCET-2 following the leakage of question paper. Subsequently, EAMCET-3 will be conducted in August and results would be declared in September. The state government has exempted students from EAMCET-3 fees.
According to the sources, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao has favored to cancel the EAMCET-2 exam after discussing with ministers, senior officials and Vice Chancellors, who suggested KCR to scrap the exam and reconduct afresh. However, an official statement on EAMCET-3 is likely to be announced on Monday.
Officials advised the government that if EAMCET-2 is not cancelled, it’ll result in legal problems for the State government. Based on the report submitted by CID, the Chief Minister KCR has decided to reconduct the entrance exam for MBBS and Dental courses.

As per the MCI norms, the admissions should be completed by September 30. If EAMCET-3 is conducted, then it has to be in August and rankers should be announced. It would take 10 days for certificates verification. It would take 20 days for three phases of counseling. If time is not sufficient, then the state government has take 10 days of additional time from Supreme Court.
The over Rs 100-crore EAMCET-2 leakage scam is creating tremors across the Telugu states. Even if the paper was leaked to one student, the exam is entitled for cancelation, opine legal experts. On the other side, rankers and majority of qualifiers demand continuation of admission process without canceling the exam.
Rajeshwar Tiwari, Principal Secretary at Medical and Health Department, said: “It can’t be seen on sympathy ground as the question paper was leaked. As per the laws, the exam has to be canceled, if it’s leaked.”

At one point of discussion, KCR thought of postponing the decision to Monday and decide later after taking legal opinion. Because, some senior officials expressed their opinions on EAMCET-2 in the meeting with KCR. According to the sources, they favored going ahead with EAMCET-2 as it’s involved with future of 56,000 students.
Some officials told KCR that it’s not good to cancel the exam as it affects 56,000 students, but those involved in this are numbering to 150.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister KCR has decided to consult senior advocates at High Court and Supreme Court and other legal experts as well.
However, KCR has decided to cancel the EAMCET-2 and reconduct the exam.
There may not be any necessity to issue a fresh notification after the cancelation of EAMCE-2. A fresh notification is needed in case of cancellation of EAMCET-1. JNTU-H Vice Chancellor Venugopal Reddy is under consideration for appointing Convener for EAMCET-3. Registrar Yadaiah is also under consideration as he has been serving as Convener for ECET for long. The Telangana government is considering Yadaiah as his vast experience is helpful in completing the EAMCET-3 as per the schedule.
