Telangana: Governor Skips Double-Bedroom Houses In Pre-Budget Speech
Hyderabad: Governor ESL Narasimhan has conveniently skipped the mention of providing double-bedroom houses for people in Telangana in his address to the joint session of Legislature on Friday.
The scheme which the TRS government has been boasting since its inception could not find any mention in the ceremonial Governor's speech, a prelude to the upcoming budget. The scheme is touted as a pet project of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and a few hundred double-bedroom houses have been built for the low income groups in some places in the state including Hyderabad, but largely people are disappointed over the delay in implementation in a large scale.
Governor while listing out the achievements of the government, highlighted the progress in power and irrigation sectors in the past 33 months. "Power cuts are now a thing of the past," he said adding that farmers are being given quality power for nine hours contributing to an immense growth in agricultural sector.
Speaking about the much-talked-about one lakh job recruitment, the Governor said a total of 27,481 jobs have already been filled and the target of one lakh will be fulfilled in the next three years. He said the Telangana government is giving top priority to welfare of backward classes and 30 welfare schemes are being implemented with a budget of Rs35,000 crore for weavers, barbers, fishermen and artisans in the state.
The session will resume on Saturday to debate on the Governor's address. The session will be held till March 27 and the budget will be introduced on March 13, Monday.
Meanwhile, Opposition Congress party boycotted the Governor's address stating that there was no mention of double-bedroom houses, 12 percent reservations to minorities and BC sub-plan in the speech.
