Telangana Government Plans to Set Up RICH: KT Rama Rao

Hyderabad: Telangana government is planning to set up Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH), state Information and Technology Minister K T Rama Rao said on Saturday.


Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of the 4th edition of ‘August Fest’ he said, “Telangana is no longer a startup state, but a scale-up state. In western countries the research is university-based. We need to learn from the West.”
“Telangana government is planning to set up Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH). The government is looking at commercialisation of research. The capital of Telangana is home to some 30 plus best research institutions such as CSIR, NIRD, IICT,” he said. He also informed that T-Hub, a technological incubator promoted by the Telangana government for startups, will start its chapter in Silicon Valley, the home to many startups and global technology companies.

Soundarya Rajinikath, daughter of film star Rajinikanth, Shobu Yarlagadda, producer of Baahubali, Carman Chan, investor in over 25 companies such as Spotify, Meetup, and Charu Sharma, founder of Pro Kabaddi league, among others, will speak on the second day of the event on Sunday, an official release said. The ‘August Fest’ is organised by Eat, Sleep and Drink (ESD) Startup floated by Kiran Maverick, Aadi, Subash and others.
