Telangana Government Gears Up To Regulate School Fees
Hyderabad: Putting a cap on annual fees charged by private schools across the state in Telangana, the government on Tuesday took a crucial step to regulate school fees from this academic year.
In a meeting at the school education department, a regulatory panel headed by convener Tirupati Rao assured all the stakeholders including school managements and parents that the state government will increase fees only once in three years as per their recommendations. The committee has given time till May 25 to all stakeholders to submit their final comments and the report will then be submitted to the government on May 29.
After going through the recommendations of the panel, the state government will soon issue an order to regulate the fees.
Speaking on the issue, Ramanjaneyulu, joint secretary in the law department and member of the committee said that the new GO will be notified under the 1983 Capitation Fee Act. In case of violation, school managements will be punishable.
The new GO will cover all the private schools including CBSE, ICSE and IB.
