Telangana Congress MLAs Mull Mass Resignations in Protest?

K. Jana Reddy - Sakshi Post

Questioning the manner in which 11 of the Congress party MLAs were suspended and two of them expelled, Leader of the Opposition K. Jana Reddy announced that they would take the issue to the people of Telangana.

Jana Reddy's statement is being interpreted as the party seriously contemplating mass resignations of MLAs. It is reportedly awaiting the High Command's nod on this move.

Reacting strongly to the speaker's announcement on the action initiated by the House, Jana Reddy demanded to know under what rule and section of House Rules were they suspended and expelled. He cited the example of scenes in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He said that the ruling party in Telangana was seen creating scenes in the parliament.

Jana Reddy described the action as totally unconstitutional and one-sided and was aimed at choking the voice of the people.

The Congress argued that the Governor alone had the power to take action over yesterday's incidents, adding that the party was denied an opportunity to voice its dissent and point out flaws in the budget presented by the TRS government. He also demanded that the CCTV footage of all cameras be revealed. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed doubts about the official version of the headphone attack which resulted in an injury to Council Chairman, Swamy Goud.
