Telangana Cong To Hold Dharna On Farmers’ Problems
The main opposition Congress in Telangana would hold sit-ins in 10 district headquarterss towns, demanding that the TRS government address the problems of farmers in the ongoing kharif season.
Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the farmers are not getting adequate cash from the banks for their agricultural needs. "The TRS government should release funds towards the fourth installment of its farm loan waiver scheme, Reddy said. He also demanded that the wages of labourers engaged in works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme be released through post offices.
He said Congress workers would stage dharna in front of banks in the erstwhile 10 district headquarters towns, which existed prior to the reorganisation of districts in the state.
