Telangana CM should be a BC leader: Hanumantha Rao
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V.Hanumantha Rao on Monday said that the post of Chief Minister of Telangana will go to a backward caste leader if Congress party comes to power in the state.
He said this in response to Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh's comments that Congress would make a Dalit as the first CM of Telangana.
He reminded that only BCs got the post of chief minister of the state till now. “Any BC leader, including D.Srinivas, can be given the post,” he added.
He rubbished the reports that there were differences of opinion in Congress party.
“I will contest from Amberpet assembly constituency in the next elections if our leader Sonia Gandhi asks me to," said the leader.
Jairam Ramesh toured some areas in Karimnagar district on Monday morning. Speaking at a function there, he said, “Our party has given the duty of selecting the SC, ST minority leaders to AICC SC Committee Chairman Koppula Raju.”
