Telangana CM pushes for all-round village-level development - Sakshi Post

Sangareddy: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today called for participation from all sections of society in villages to realise his dream of comprehensive rural development and assured of uninterrupted power supply in the next two years in the state.

Rao said his government's just launched mega rural development programme, 'Grama Jyothi', has been allocated a budget of Rs 25,000 crore. 'Grama Jyothi' is aimed at planned and comprehensive development of the villages.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gram sabha organised under the programme at Erravalli village which is part of Gajwel Assembly segment, represented by Rao. Rao asked people to rise above caste, creed, religion and work for development of their villages.

They should form village-level committees and chalk out development schemes on the basis of consensus. Nothing is impossible, only thing that is required is determination and dedication. Erravalli will become a golden village of the state in just six months if you people work with true spirit, the Chief Minister said.

I started Telangana movement from Erravalli and succeeded in my goal (statehood). Now I am here for Grama Jyothi, which should also become a grand success. A sum of Rs 74 lakh will be sanctioned for development activities in Erravalli apart from a 132 kv substation which will solve the problem of low voltage power, Rao said. In the next 6 months, no villager would go out in search of water which will be provided in every home.

If this does not happen, my party will not ask for votes in the next elections, he asserted. A water reservoir with 20 TMC capacity will be built to provide drinking water in the area. Funds will also be given to the village through corporate social responsibility programmes of corporate houses, Rao said.

Assuring uninterrupted power supply in the next two years in the state, he announced 200 double bedroom houses for Erravalli village and said construction will start in less than a fortnight. The village will tomorrow undertake a cleanliness drive and this will be followed by a plantation campaign.
