Telangana CM KCR Moves Into Palatial Pragati Bhavan
Hyderabad: Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday moved into his newly constructed high-security, palatial home in Begumpet. Governor ESL Narasimhan and his wife Vimala Narasimhan, ministers, China Jeeyar Swamy and several dignitaries attended the ceremony that took place at 5.22am.
The CM's new camp office, as the official residence-cum-office is called, is named Pragati Bhavan and the meeting hall is titled as Janahita.
The new building sprawls over one lakh square feet on a 9-acre piece of land at Panjagutta-Begumpet area and is fitted with all modern, high-tech facilities including high security bullet-proof glass to the bedrooms of the CM and his son KTR. The official residence is constructed at a cost of Rs38 crore.
These measures are in tune with the recommendations of state intelligence officials.
More than 50 security personnel will be guarding the camp office-cum-residence 24x7, many of them armed, including members of the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) which take cares of VIP security.
Intelligence wing recommended the use of bullet-proof glasses as these rooms provide a line of sight and might be vulnerable to a sniper with a rifle. The CM's new home is covered by a tall compound wall to ensure nobody can peep inside.
