Telangana bill gets union cabinet nod

The special union cabinet meet on Telangana has just ended now. Cabinet has accepted for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to carve out the state of Telangana. It lasted for about two hours.

In the meet held at the official residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the key decision was taken. Immediately after the meet, the Congress Core Committee meet was started to discuss the same. The Congress president Sonia Gandhi came for the residence of the prime minister to take part in the meet.

The ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Pallam Raju and Jaipal Reddy also attended the meeting. Rayala Telangana proposal was rejected by the Group of Ministers. Similarly, giving the union territory status for Hyderabad was also rejected. The present position is such that the bill can be passed in the Parliament if the BJP can support it.
