Techies turn iPhone thieves, arrested

Hyderabad: Chikkadpally Police arrested two techies – an Amazon employee and a Tech Mahindra employee - in connection with a theft case on Thursday. The duo, identified as Naveen and Atul, cheated e-commerce company Flipkart by claiming that they have not received the iPhone 6 they purchased from the site.

On being interrogated, the duo confessed to the crime and revealed that they placed an order with Flipkart and paid Rs. 51,000 for the phone. The duo later registered a fake complaint with the e-commerce company saying that they had received the parcel but the phone was missing.

The e-commerce company refunded the amount from which the order was placed. An audit, however, revealed that the phone was being used by someone in Hyderabad. Based on the IMEI number it was found that Atul’s brother was using the phone.
