Yet another cyber crime of harassing woman by circulating morphed images and sending spam mails came to light.
Police today arrested a person for defaming a former woman colleague by hacking her email-IDs and creating fake profiles on Facebook after she refused his marriage proposal.
The accused identified as Sai Kumar, working as an engineer in an IT firm in United States, was nabbed by Cyber Crime wing of Crime Investigation Department from the Hyderabad Airport this morning, CID Additional DGP S V Ramana Murthy said.
Kumar confessed to the investigators that while working in a city-based IT company earlier, he had developed friendship with the victim, and made marriage proposal to her which she refused, the CID officer said.
Later, Kumar started blackmailing her and harassed her by sending spam mails with abusive content and images to all the employees, friends and relatives from the mail-ID of the victim by hacking it.
Besides, the accused created fake email-IDs and profiles on Facebook and started defaming the complainant's character, Murthy said.
The CID sleuths found that Kumar was using proxy servers to conceal his identity and seized his laptop and mobile phone used while committing the offence.
Kumar was booked under relevant sections of IPC and IT Act and sent for judicial remand.
