Teacher’s Casteist Slur Drove Dalit Student To Suicide

Hyderabad: It was a casteist remark from a teacher that drove Dalit student Sai Deepthi to suicide.

The teacher allegedly hurled casteist slurs at her and refused to let her write an exam. Unable to bear the insult in front of the whole class, Sai Deepthi is said to have returned home. Her elder sister, Sai Latha, enquired on why she returned early from school. On being told the insult by the teacher, Sai Latha tried to console her. She was convinced that Sai Deepthi got over the trauma and left her at home to run some errand at the bank. However, on her return she found the 14-year-old hanging from the ceiling fan .
