Teacher booked for corporal punishment

A private school teacher was booked today for allegedly subjecting a six-year-old student to corporal punishment, police said.

The boy, a first standard student, was allegedly caned on his back by Hindi teacher Roma in the classroom yesterday, for reportedly not paying attention in the class. Boy's parents also held a protest outside the school at Narsingi area in Hyderabad, they said.

An investigating officer said the teacher has been absconding since she was booked under the assault case.
