Tea Vendor Turned International Red Sander Smuggler Arrested

Mydukuru: International smuggler AT Maideen was on Thursday arrested by the police at Mydukur town in YSR Kadapa district. The smuggler was identified by the police custody after his car was stopped during searches in the town.

Maideen is a native of Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. Once a tea vendor, Maideen was attracted to red sanders smuggling in the Kadapa forests and amassed crores of rupees within a short period.

Total of 66 red sander logs along with 2 BMW cars and 2 bikes were seized from him. In all, Rs55,000 in cash, ATM cards of various banks, four mobile phones and several land related documents were also seized.

Speaking to media, district SP Attada Bapujee said that about Rs78 crore worth assets are found in the name of Maideen. Two other persons were also arrested in connection with red sander smuggling.
