TDP MLA, Congress MLC Join TRS in City
Hyderabad: In yet another boost to the ruling party, the Secunderabad Cantonment MLA G. Sayanna and Congress MLC S. Prabhakar quit their respective parties to join TRS on Thursday.
TRS had already included four city TDP MLAs - Talasani Srinivas Yadav from Sanath Nagar, Teegala Krishna Reddy from Maheshwaram, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy from Ibrahimpatnam and Madhavaram Krishna Rao of Kukatpally - in its fold in a bid to strengthen the party in Hyderabad. With the inclusion of Sayanna, a four-time MLA from the Secunderabad Cantonment SC reserved constituency, the ruling party is now able to make inroads into both the cantonment area as well the SC voter base in the city.
Irrigation Minister Harish Rao is reported to have engineered the migration of the long-time TDP leader into TRS. Speaking to media, Sayanna said sitting in an opposition party is not going to do any good to his constituency and he has all hope and trust in Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao that he would take the state and city to global level. Congress MLC Prabhakar said the CM has proved his efficiency by ensuring uninterrupted quality power supply in twin cities and finishing construction of 400 double-bedroom houses for the poor within such short time. "We feel proud of working under the leadership of KCR," they said.
