TDP in jitters on YSRCP dharna
Asserting that TDP Government is in jitters following the dharna programmes which are drawing huge mass support, YSR Congress has demanded that the total agriculture loans along with the interest due should be paid by the State and all dues of the farmers be cleared.
“It has become a habit for TDP to give flowery statements on the eve of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led agitation programme which is only a feeble attempt to console the farmers but in reality the State is at a loss for words and deeds as farmers,. DWACRA women and other sections are rallying behind YSR Congress agitation,” Party spokesperson Perni Nani told reporters in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
To cite some of the sly moves of the TDP Government, the Agriculture Minister Pulla Rao announces on October 15 that the first installment of loan waiver will take place soon and the statement comes on the eve of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s dharna on October 16.
While YSR Congress has given a call for mandal level dharna on November 5, on October 26 Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet colleagues unleash a barrage of criticism on our leader and call him names but the success of the dharna programme has sent shock waves down their spine, he said.
When our Party President has announced that he would sit on a dharna at Visakhapatnam on December 5 as part of the dharna programme at all Collectorates, the Agriculture minister Pulla Rao announces that the Chief Minister will make a statement on loan waiver on December 4.
“These are cheap tricks and stem out of fear that farmers and women are rallying being YSR Congress as they are fed up with the lies of Chandrababu Naidu who said that he would waive all loans after coming to power but is searching ways to curtail the quantum of debt and escape routes to jump the promise,” he said.
During electioneering, Chandrababu Naidu has told the farmers and women groups not to repay the loans or pay the interest as he would waive them after coming to power. They believed him and now he has been weeding out the list on one pretext or the other.
The Farmers Empowerment Corporation set up for debt redemption of farmers has been laying strictures and restricting the benefit to a few while Chandrababu Naidu has assured that all laons would be waived after he assumes office.
Aquaculture is deleted from the list and horticulture is not defined properly. The loan waiver does not apply for those who purchased agriculture implements and so on. In the name of scale of finance only Rs 24,000 per acre will be waived and gold loans will not be taken into consideration.
Addressing the party workers Chandrababu Naidu has said that he only assured to waive crop loans and not agriculture loans.
Such a turn-around has badly affected the farmers, women groups and other sections that are rallying behind the Party and we demand that the total agriculture loans along with interest should be waived immediately, he said.
