TDP gets Jagan's support, Kodela set to become speaker - Sakshi Post

TDP senior leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao is all set to become the first Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. His election would be unanimous as the YSR Congress Party has also decided not to oppose his candidate.

Though there were at least four claimants to the post, the search has narrowed down to six-time MLA from Guntur, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.

In an effort to arrive at consensus, legislative affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrishna met YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and sought his party's support to Kodela. Jagan has agreed for it.

Election will be held for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly at At 9.22 am tomorrow and Protem Speaker Narayanaswamy issued election notification for the post . 

Governor E S L Narasimhan would address the joint sitting of Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly at 8.55 AM on June 21. After a day's break, the House would take up debate on thanksgiving to the Governor's address on June 23 and 24.
