TDP Embarrassed After Fans Choose YS Jagan Over Chandrababu For CM in Facebook Poll
The Telugu Desam party has lost its sheen in Andhra Pradesh. For one, its chief Chandrababu Naidu's opportunistic politics is there for everyone to see, particularly after he claimed credit for moving a non-trust vote against the BJP-led NDA government in the Lok Sabha when it was the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP which took the initiative to bring pressure on the government on the Special Category Status issue.
As if that embarassment was not enough, what happened on Tuesday is something that the Telugu Desam wished was a bad dream. Now, for those unable to contain their curiosity, here's something you must know.
It's a known fact that YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is touring every nook and corner of the state on foot as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra. In his capacity as the AP leader of Opposition, YS Jagan intends to get an insight into the actual problems being faced by people on a daily basis. Sure enough, he discovered that problems are plenty as people have been denied even basic amenities under the present TDP regime. As expected, the YSRCP president's padayatra has received an overwhelming response from people.
Rattled by his success, the yellow party decided to set up a fan page to troll the YSRCP chief. However, what happened next was unbelievable. The facebook fan page put out a poll for its followers with the question; "Who is the next CM of AP." And to their utter shock, their fans chose Jagan over Chandrababu Naidu! In other words, their action recoiled on them.
When asked who the fans would support in the upcoming polls, YS Jagan garnered more votes than Chandrababu. And an embarassed TDP had to quickly resort to damage control and save face. And what did they do? They deleted the page!
YSRCP Leader Buggana Rajendranath Reddy told a leading English Daily that the poll results reflected the present state of affairs in AP. “All these years, people believed that Chandrababu Naidu is a visionary and an experienced man. With that belief people voted him in 2014. Of course he could win with a wafer thin majority. But now things have changed. People have realized that Naidu is an outdated man and was only best at packaging himself rather than working for the people and delivering good governance. That’s the reason for groundswell support to Jagan wherever he goes. These kind of polls will only reflect such ground situation.”
Adding to what Buggana said, YSR Congress party official spokesperon Vasireddy Padma said that the public now knows that Chandrababu can't save the interests of the Telugus or AP.
She added: "Even TDP fans know that the party hasn't remained what it was under the late NTR. Chandrababu went to Delhi only with the intention of pressurizing the Centre to trouble YS Jagan , get more Assembly seats and not in the interest of the state."
